Data Center Technician

Our client, a leading organisation within the data centre industry, is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Data Center Technicians to join their Decommissioning team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin or grow a career in the data centre and IT hardware environment.
The successful candidates will support the safe and secure processing of large-scale legacy data centre equipment, ensuring all hardware is prepared for removal and all customer data is properly sanitised. This role requires someone who can follow strict procedures, work accurately, and collaborate effectively within a team.
Key Responsibilities
Safely decommission and process legacy hardware from data centre facilities
Follow all security and safety protocols
Unpack and repack fragile electronic equipment
Move and relocate large enterprise hardware
Create, attach, and scan barcodes and labels; record serial numbers
Remove and destroy Hard Drives and Solid State Drives (HDD/SSD)
Assist with basic networking hardware removal and clearing configurations
Update progress through a web-based ticketing system or report to team leads
Escalate issues to senior technicians or management when required
Maintain consistent performance and adhere strictly to established processes
Work collaboratively with team members and promote cross-team communication
Travel to required sites as needed
Requirements
Basic knowledge of PC hardware components (HDD/SSD, RAM, CPU, storage media, I/O devices, etc.)
Basic competency with laptops and general IT software
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
Comfortable performing repetitive tasks with accuracy
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to handle and move large equipment
Must have full eligibility to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship provided)
